RECOMMENDATION:

Approve a change order to R&M Consultants in the amount of $74,908 for continued design and bid phase services through end of March 2017.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Attached is a change order for R&M Consultants to continue design and bid phase services through end of March 2017. By that time we anticipate opening bids for the next phase of the harbor project, which will be a single construction bid package to complete the remaining project elements that were not deferred to the forthcoming waterfront master plan. It is important to note that we need to know who the next contractor will be and their proposed construction schedule to assess the level of construction administration that will be required, which will be reflected in the fees associated with CA services.

This amendment incorporates currently remaining funds in R&M’s agreement for design completion, bidding and construction support services, and provides for the substantial effort of compiling the previously independent project packages into a single bid package. The single bid package will result in more efficient project management for the City and project team. Staff is successfully working with our project consultants to ensure that consulting fees for design, construction administration and inspection services remain within the original project budget.
