SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Alaska Gasline Port Authority has requested funding in the amount of $8,000 to complete their annual audit, and for communication and travel expenses. Administration recommends this funding be provided from the Gas Line Development line item in the City Council budget.

In 1999 the Valdez City Council approved Ordinance 99-11, providing for the creation of the Alaska Gasline Port Authority (AGPA). The mission of the Alaska Gasline Port Authority as approved by the voters of the City of Valdez, the Fairbanks North Star Borough and the North Slope Borough, was to build or cause to be built a natural gas pipeline from Alaska’s North Slope to tidewater at the Port of Valdez. The AGPA continues to meet with interested purchasers of Alaska North Slope gas, administration officials with the State of Alaska and other interested parties.
