RECOMMENDATION:

Accept final plat for Subdivision #24-04, Duck Tail Subdivision. A re-plat of Tract D Duck Marsh Subdivision plat 2001-11, Section 32, Township 8 South, Range 6 West, Copper River Meridian, Alaska. Creating Lots D1, D2, and D3.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

At their regularly scheduled public meeting on October 23rd, 2024, the Planning and Zoning Commission of The City of Valdez approved the final plat of Subdivision #24-04, Duck Tail Subdivision. The purpose of this subdivision is to create separate lots for the new sewer lift station, the Animal Shelter, and the Valdez Food Bank.

The Planning and Zoning Commission serves as the platting authority of the Valdez Recording District and has the final say in approving changes of property boundaries within the City of Valdez. However, since the Duck Tail Subdivision exists on property that is owned by the City, the acceptance of the final plat by the City Council is a part of the procedure required in order to authorize the mayor to sign the final plat on behalf of the City of Valdez.
