RECOMMENDATION:
Approve application for the 2026 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Valdez Fire Department applies for this grant each year from the Alaska Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry & Fire Protection. We have been awarded the grant in 2025, 2024, 2022, and 2021.
The grant covers the cost of training and wildland firefighting equipment. The grant has a maximum amount of $10,000.00. We are requesting the maximum amount.
The 10% match is achieved by matching actives, i.e. training. We submit our training records with the grant application for approval.
