SUMMARY STATEMENT:
During the 2018 budget work session process, Mr. Mike Wells from the Valdez Fisheries Development Association requested a Community Service Organization (CSO) grant for $23,317 for a kiosk project at the Solomon Gulch Hatchery. Unfortunately, this project did not qualify under the requirements for CSO grant funding and was denied as a CSO grant.
However, City Council supported the concept of the project and indicated Council consensus for staff to fund $23,317 for the kiosk project out of the 2018 Council Contingency Reserve account (350-0202-55000). One of the conditions of providing this specialty non-grant project funding was that Mr. Wells provide an update to City Council about the kiosk project during the first regular Council meeting in January 2018.
