RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of a professional services agreement with Winchester Alaska, Inc. for $79,592.00 for the design and construction administration services for the oxygen generator relocation.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The hospital has an oxygen generator for medical use that greatly reduces the oxygen deliveries needed.  The hospital was within the code when the oxygen generator was supplied and constructed years ago.  The location of the oxygen generator is in the same room as the stored bottled gases, and is now considered a medical fire code issue.  The hospital needs separation of the oxygen gas generator from the stored gases.

Winchester Alaska, architects, previously sketched an oxygen generator room addition concept, and gave a rough construction estimate for the hospital to consider.  The hospital has decided to proceed with construction of a new addition on the north side of the hospital that will resolve the oxygen generation code issues, allow for expansion of the oxygen generation facilities, and provide some additional storage space.

The attached proposal from Winchester outlines the design and construction administration services needed.  The consultant will provide complete design and assist with construction administration services.
