SUMMARY STATEMENT:
At the April 7th city council meeting a citizen requested that the city consider raising the amount of the exemption currently provided under the Senior Citizen and Disabled Veterans property tax exemption. Following discussion during council business from the floor, the City Clerk offered to provide a report on the matter. The City Clerk’s office administers the annual application process for this exemption and is knowledgeable concerning eligibility and administration. Finance has provided information regarding current and the potential increase to foregone revenue for both exemptions (attachment A).
