RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint Anna Bateman and Jon Berkeley to full terms and Jim Nygaard to a partial term on the Providence Valdez Medical Center Community (Health) Advisory Council
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Three vacancies exist on the PVMC Community (Health) Advisory Council - two vacancies due to normal term expiration and one partial vacancy due to resignation.
Applications for the PVMC CAC are now solicited, received, vetted, and recommended by PVMC and the CAC. Applications for recommended candidates are then forwarded to City Council for formal appointment.
Due to recent transition amongst PVMC leadership and the fact that terms on the PVMC CAC expire in October each year, the PVMC CAC requested assistance from the City Clerk’s Office in November 2021 to advertise and receive applications for the current vacancies.
During the second round of advertising, three applications were received:
• Anna Bateman - Checked partial term on application, but followed up by email to communicate she prefers full term.
• Jon Berkeley - No term length preference
• Jim Nygaard - No term length preference
The applicants’ information was forwarded to PVMC for review. The PVMC CAC formally voted and unanimously recommended all three applications for appointment by City Council as follows:
• Anna Bateman - Full term, expiring October 2024
• Jon Berkeley - Full term, expiring October 2024
• Jim Nygaard - Partial term, expiring October 2023
