SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Parks & Recreation Master Plan April update is attached to this report.
Key points and upcoming schedule:
• Survey responses- 1,815 Mailings sent to Valdez Residents
o 219 completed invite surveys
o 45 completed open link surveys
§ 13.9% return rate (very good rate of return compared to GreenPlay national averages).
o Survey results will be presented to Rec Commission on regular scheduled meeting May 12th
• Upcoming Schedule:
o May 1st- Deliver 50% of draft plan (background/ planning context/ program analysis/ organizational analysis/ LOS/ survey
o May 6th- Deliver 75% of draft plan (recommendations/ action and implementation plan/ Financial Analysis)
o May 13th- Deliver 100% of draft plan (Capital Costing/Site specific plans/ Appendix)
o June (joint work session Rec Commission and Council to discuss the Parks & Recreation draft Master Plan
o July 7th- Present final to Council for adoption
Allison Point Campground- MWR Fort Greely will be the operators of Allison Point Campground along with Glacier Campground until both agreements expire in 2023.
PRCS Director is currently reviewing an itemized proposal for the Meals Hill Master Plan from the contractor Huddle LLC.
PRCS has canceled the Valdez Eco-Stewardship Program for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program was specially funded by council.
