Approve Resolution 26-27.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
At the Regular City Council meeting on April 7, 2026 the Valdez Tourism Task Force presented their short-term and long-term recommendations.
One of the recommendations presented was to maintain a physical visitor center. The attached resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a lease for the facility for the summer season.
The anticipated duration is approximately May through October. With the voluntary dissolution of the VCVB ongoing, the center will be staffed by temporary City employees.
The future operation of a visitor center will be determined by the next destination marketing organization in Valdez.
The terms of the current lease are $3000 per month with the lessee responsible for utility expenses.
