SUMMARY STATEMENT:

CSO COUNCIL COMMITTEE-The Council committee related to Community Service Organizations is currently short one member. Council Members Devens and Moore are currently on the committee. The committee established a process for handling Community Service Organization budget requests. Council has discussed continuing to examine the process and possibly make a few modifications.

An immediate need is to meet with Stepping Stones Learning Center and discuss criteria for additional funding beyond the 90K placed in the 2022 Budget. Staff will be requesting an additional Council Member to consider the issue.

COASTAL COMMUNITIES MEETING-On Tuesday January 11, 2022 the Coastal Communities group met to discuss multiple issues, including fisheries issues, Mari-culture, marine highway funding, and infrastructure. The Director of AML indicated that early discussions related to the Bi-Partisan infrastructure bill at the National League of Cities indicate that Ports and Harbor funding will be an immediate funding consideration, but contingent upon regional importance. Collaborative projects (meaning more than one community engaged in a project) will receive greater consideration.

The infrastructure funding continues to create much discussion, but specifics are still difficult. I questioned the AML Director about the “symposium” discussed at AML. At this time, a scheduling a symposium is still pending, but the Director did indicate that at the AML meeting in February, infrastructure would be a topic.

0-3 WITH FAMILIES ALLIANCE MEETING- The 0-3 with Families Alliance held a meeting on Friday, January 14, 2022. City Manager will provide update at Council meeting.

DIRECTOR’ RETREAT- A Director’s Retreat will be held March 28, 2022. Karen Kirk of Synergistic Solutions plans to facilitate. The major goal of the retreat is to assign tasks created in the Comprehensive Plan to Directors/Departments.
