RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the Contract with Wolverine Summit JV for VHS Walk-in Cooler and Freezer Replacement in the amount of $294,000.00
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Then intent of this project is to remove and replace the walk-in cooler and freezers at the Valdez High School and Bus Barn.
Background:
This project is listed on the City’s long-range plan but did not score high enough for prioritization in 2021. The School District elected to fund the project themselves when a critical failure occurred with one of the coolers. The City Capital Facilities Department stepped in to manage the completion of project design at the time of the departure of the previous School District Maintenance Director. To ensure continuity and assist the School District our department will manage the project through construction this summer. The School District will pay for the project and either reimburse the City or forward fund the project to the City’s Major Maintenance reserve.
The equipment is at end of life and replacement is justified. The School Board voted unanimously in favor of approving and funding the project.
