SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The past two weeks included the following activities in the City Manager’s Office.

-I was out of the office from May 5th-May 12th.

-Roxanne Murphy Assistant City Manager was acting City Manager and kept me updated on issues that occurred in my absence.

-I will be out of the office again the last week and half of June. Nathan Duval, Assistant City Manager/Capital Facilities Director will be in charge in that time.

-A work session will be held on Senior Housing proposal on May 18th. Cordes Development and other collaborators will be present at the meeting. Two meetings have been held with Senior Center Executive Director Deborah Plant and Senior Center President Steve Newcomer prior to the Council work session.  The location for Senior Housing project currently being discussed is near the Senior Center. A preliminary application will need to be submitted to the State in June to demonstrate Valdez initial interest in the project.

-During my next five weeks prior to my absence in late June my focus will include:

Working with Assistant City Manager and Planning Director to continue public outreach and conducting public meeting on the Draft Comprehensive Plan.

Working on Senior Housing proposal with Cordes Development for submittal of preliminary application in June in conjunction with Assistant City Manager/Capital Facilities Director and Economic Development Director

Planning for Council retreat session in July with Karen Kirk (consultant) and City Clerk.

Working with the assistance of City staff and AML on understanding and identifying grants/monies available in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) for COV projects and community needs.

Selecting a consultant for Comprehensive review of Fire/EMS operations.

I am coordinating with Assistant City Manager/Capital Facilities Director Nathan Duval to begin reporting to Council via PowerPoint presentation on projects to be substantially completed during the 2021 Construction season.

I will work with members of the medical community to make presentations related to COVID 19 activity to the City Council on a monthly basis.
