RECOMMENDATION:
After establishing criteria for scoring each proposal, the sub-committee reviewed each proposal at length. Following discussion with members of city administration and receiving responses to concerns submitted to both air service carriers, the Essential Air Service (EAS) Subcommittee recommends Ravn as the preferred air carrier for the Valdez EAS program.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
On September 3, 2024, the City Council of Valdez established a subcommittee to review proposals for the Essential Air Service (EAS) program in response to the United States Department of Transportation's (USDOT) initiative to enhance air transportation services in rural communities. The resolution and report summarizes the subcommittee’s activities, evaluation process, and recommendations regarding the selection of an air carrier for Valdez.
