SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Residents at Alderwood Mobile Home Park who are currently connected to the legacy water system at Alderwood Mobile Home Park have been issued a boil water notice by the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.

To remediate this hazard, the city council directed the City Manager to facilitate connection of mobile home units at Alderwood Mobile Home Park to the recently installed private water system, which connects to the City of Valdez water system.

Section 8.20.040 of the Valdez Municipal Code allows the city abatement official to take action to protect the health and safety of occupants and make minimal emergency repairs as necessary to eliminate any life safety hazard.

Resolution #24-35 amends the 2024 city budget to fund the work required to complete these water connections by allocating necessary funds to the Nuisance and Abatement account.
