RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Resolution #24-26 authorizing consignment sale.
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Valdez City Code allows for the disposal of property through negotiated sale with City Council approval in cases where “such a sale will facilitate the provision of services that benefit the city or is otherwise in the best interest of the city.” (VMC 4.06.040).
The Public Works Director and Fleet Manager recommend that the City Council authorize the consignment sale of a surplus 2012 966K Wheel Loader facilitated by NC Machinery. The first five (5) days of the sale will be open exclusively to City of Valdez residents, and if the minimum price is not met, the sale will be open for worldwide purchase.
The 2012 966K Wheel Loader has an estimated value of $235,000, and NC Machinery will take a 10% commission rate for the sale.
