SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Public Works Department purchased a 2025 CAT Skid Steer for the Port and Harbor Department from NC Machinery at a total cost of $83,118.60. The equipment was procured utilizing a Sourcewell cooperative purchasing contract, ensuring compliance with procurement requirements and competitive pricing.
This unit replaces a Bobcat S100 Skid Steer that had reached the end of its service life. The replaced equipment was declared surplus and auctioned in accordance with Valdez Municipal Code 4.06.020 governing the disposal of surplus property. Proceeds from the sale will be managed in alignment with the City’s budget and financial policies.
The new skid steer will support daily harbor operations, including material handling, snow removal, maintenance activities, and operational support at Port and Harbor facilities, improving reliability and operational efficiency.
